Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 July 2026
Zanira ("we", "us") provides an offline-first point-of-sale and books product for independent retailers. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices under applicable data-protection law.
1. Who this covers
People who create a Zanira account, sign in with email or Google, enrol a device, or use the product for a business — plus limited data about staff users your business adds (for example display name and PIN-authenticated sessions).
2. What we collect
Account data (name, email, phone if provided, authentication identifiers including Google account email when you use Google Sign-In); business profile; device and session data; operational shop data you enter (products, stock, sales, payment metadata, receipts, journals); and support communications.
3. Why we process data
To create and secure your account (including Google Sign-In); provide POS, inventory, payments status, compliance workflows you enable, and books features; sync and restore business data; keep the service reliable; and respond to support requests.
4. Google Sign-In
If you choose Continue with Google, Google authenticates you and shares basic profile information (typically name and email) with our auth provider so we can create or open your Zanira session. We do not receive your Google password. Google's policies apply to Google's processing; this policy applies to what Zanira receives and stores afterward.
5. Storage, sync, and offline use
Zanira is designed to work offline on the device. Operational data is written locally first and may sync to cloud infrastructure when connectivity allows. Protect device access (PIN / OS lock); a shared till is a shared-responsibility environment.
6. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We may share data with processors who host auth, database, sync, or crash tooling; integrations you enable; and authorities when required by law or valid legal process.
7. Retention
Account data is kept while your account is active. After closure, we delete or anonymise personal account data within a reasonable period unless law requires longer retention of specific business records.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable data-protection law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal data we hold about you, and you may object to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority where available.
9. Children
Zanira is a business product. It is not directed at children under 18.
10. This website and the launch-updates list
The zanira.net marketing site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If you submit the launch-updates form we store the email address you give us, plus a salted one-way hash of your IP address used only to rate-limit abuse of that form; we do not store the address itself. We use the email only to send launch and setup news, and you can ask us to delete it at any time by writing to privacy@zanira.net. That form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which receives your IP address and browser signals in order to tell a person from a bot; Cloudflare processes that data under its own privacy policy.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. We will revise the Last updated date and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the product or by email where appropriate.
